Switcheroo!

Okay, today's game is Switcheroo! If you are a fan of Scattegories, you will love this game!

The Point:
Match words to categories or categories to words with a specific letter of the alphabet.

Gameplay:

Place 1 random subject card and 1 letter card face up between all the players.

Shuffle the cards. Deal 10 cards to each player. Players may look at their cards. Place the slap timer where everyone can reach it. T

This is an example of my hand:

On your turn, do one of two options:

Option 1: Use a letter card in your hand and come up with a word that answers the card face up in the subject pile. Place your letter card on top of the letter pile.

Option 2: Use a subject card in your hand and come up with a word that starts with the letter that is face up in the letter pile. Place your subject card on top of the subject pile.

For example, the letter K is on top of the letter pile. So I will play the subject card "A fast food restaurant" and say, "KFC"!

Another example: The subject card "A fast food restaurant" is now on the top of the pile, so I will play my letter card "C" and say, "Checkers"!

Play continues one player after another. If another player challenges your response, the whole group will take a vote to decide if it's acceptable. Any unacceptable answers will result in the player drawing one card from the main deck as a penalty.

Wild cards and the slap timer:

Slap timer:
If a player is taking too much time, slap the timer so they only have 10 seconds to respond. If they don't answer in time, they must draw a card as a penalty.

Extra Turn:
If a player uses this card, he can put down 2 cards on his turn.

Switch Direction:
If a player uses this card, play reverses direction.

More Time:
If a player uses this card, he gets 2 slaps of a timer to put down a card.

The Big Switch:
There is only one of these in the whole game, so use it wisely. When played, this card enables the user to switch hands with any other player. The other player must give up his/her cards and accept your hand in return. You do not play a letter or subject card on this turn. Play moves to the next player.

Remember:
Once a word is used as an answer (i.e. baseball), it cannot be repeated again in the game.

How to Win:
Get rid of all your cards!

Verdict:
We loooooove this game! Scattegories is one of my all-time favorites, if you know that game. This is just like that but with no writing, so it's not as frustrating for my son who loathes writing and spelling!

Great for Learning:
Critical thinking, quick thinking, strategy
