Lazarus Awakening
I just finished a really great book that I reviewed for Waterbrook Multnomah Publishers. It is called Lazarus Awakening and is part of a series that Joanna Weaver has written. I actually read this book without realizing that I own the first book in the series! You do not have to read them in order, but now that I have read this book I can't wait to pick up the one I own to read it, and then I'd also like to read the other book. This book focuses on the story of Lazarus. Weaver relates the story to us, as having a spiritual awakening, or a spiritual resurrection. She tells the story of Lazarus from the Bible for those who don't know the story, and then relates it so well to us.
Weaver talks about many parts of spiritual life that are very relevant to each of us. She speaks on friendship, the lies we believe, disciplining our minds, listening skills, and so many other things. I love how she speaks on a level that is so easy to read and so easy to understand. There were tons of little phrases that really made me think, and I actually even wrote them down in my journal to remind myself later of these things. She is funny, and honest, and tells many of her mistakes. She also includes a study guide, which I love, to kind of reinforce the whole book.
Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone. Like I said, it's an easy read, but it will definitely make you think, and I believe it will make you grow spiritually.
I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
