The Crossing Review
I really wanted to read "The Crossing" by Serita Jakes because I love thriller novels and I'm always looking for new authors to read.
There were things about this book that I really liked, but I think there were more things I didn't particularly like. The story itself was interesting but there were too many things that were unbelievable. A cop who uses physical power to overcome those who are weaker than him, but never gets punished for it. A lawyer who opens a 10-year-old closed case with no new evidence, but never gets questioned for it. A teacher-student relationship that goes way beyond what it should and what is realistic. The families run together in this book - who belongs to who, who has faith and who doesn't - it is very hard to keep straight.
The story was interesting, like I said, but there was a lot of back and forth that went on in the book. It was an easy read but I'm not sure I'd recommend this book to everyone to read.
I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
