Beat the Parents
Today's game is another great game to play with adults and kids. It is called Beat the Parents. Think of it as Battle of the Sexes but between the kids and parents!
The Point:
To answer trivia questions correctly and make it all the way across the board.
Gameplay:
Parents are on a team and kids are on a team. put your movers on the start spaces on your side of the board to begin.
Kids go first. Parents draw a card and read out the first kids' question. If the kids answer correctly, they move forward one space and the parents ask the next question on the card. If they aren't correct, their turn is over. Ultimately you can answer three questions correctly on your turn and move forward three spaces!
The parents go next, obviously, and the same rules apply to their turn.
If you land on the same space as the opposite team, you get to bump their mover back two spaces!
No moving backwards unless instructed by a wild card!
When you land on your own wild card space, you immediately follow the instructions on a wild card.
When you land on the opposite team's wild card space, you only draw a card if it is the end of your turn.
How to Win:
Be the first person to get both of your pieces across the board!
Verdict:
Yes, we totally love this game. It's really easy to play and not a really long game. I love trivia games, and this one is a great mix of easy questions to tough questions. There is a lot of variety in the questions, from science to books to TV shows and spelling!
Great for Learning:
Actually, even though there is a lot of useless trivia in here, there are some cool things you can learn such as fish don't have eyelids, an atom is the smallest unit of an element, and blood is made up of plasma, red cells, white cells and platelets!
