Sturdy Birdy

Today's game is called Sturdy Birdy. This game says it is for ages 5 and up but honestly I think this can be fun for youngers, also! Maybe a little tougher to balance but you can be flexible with the rules.

The Point:
You want to successfully do all twelve poses first!

Gameplay:

Choose a seed bag. This will be your color for the entire game. Lay out the 12 bird poses and put all players' seed bags on the first pose. This is the first one you need to accomplish. As you master a pose, you get to move your seed bag to the next pose.

Roll both of the dice together. The blue die tells how many seconds the player must attempt to hold the pose which her seed bag is in front of (you start with the first in line - however you want to line them up)

These are the poses:

Here are the colored bags and the dice.

The dice each have a meaning. If you roll this picture on the green die, you must balance your seed bag on your foot AND hold the pose on the picture!

If you roll this picture on the green die, you must balance your seed bag on your head AND hold the pose on the picture!

If you roll this picture on the green die, you must balance your seed bag on your shoulder AND hold the pose on the picture!

If you roll this picture on the green die, you must put the seed bag anywhere you want on your body AND say, "Tweet, tweet! Chirp, chirp!" while balancing!

If you roll this picture on the green die, you must balance the seed bag anywhere on your body, and while you are balancing, your opponents will be fluttering about like butterflies to distract you! You cannot touch the player holding the pose, but you can definitely try to distract them and make the seed bag fall!

If you are successful in holding your first pose of your turn, move your seed bag to the next pose. Roll again. Whatever number of seconds you roll this turn, you must double! So if you roll a 3, you need to hold the pose for 6 seconds.

If you can make it to a third pose, the number of seconds you roll is tripled! You can only complete up to three poses on one turn.

You can play where you do have to repeat a pose until you get it, or the rules say you can move on to the next pose even if you are unsuccessful.

How to win:
The first person to successfully complete all twelve poses and arrive at the end of the line first wins!

Verdict:
This has always been a favorite game in our house. We haven't played it very much as the kids have gotten older, but it's a very fun game.

Great for Learning:
Balance, coordination, counting, lower multiplication tables
