Fancy Nancy: Wedding of the Century
This board game is PERFECT for younger kids. There isn't really any reading involved, so it really can be played with as young as a 3-year old, in my opinion. (Your mileage may vary depending on your child's personality!)
The Point:
Fill all 12 spaces on your game board.
Gameplay:
Each player takes a game board. Open it up and place it in front of you so you can see all three panels. Select one of the double-sided Fancy Nancy tokens. Place it on any of your blocks that say "Fancy Nancy". All the other double-sided Fancy Nancy tiles will be mixed up with all the other tokens.
Scatter all the tiles face-down in a draw pile.
Player one draws one tile from the draw pile and looks at it.
If it is a tile that matches a picture on your board that is empty, place it on the matching space. When you complete one panel (one of the trifold parts) that panel becomes "frozen" which means it's safe from other players!
If it is a Fancy Nancy token and matches yours, place it on any empty Fancy Nancy spot on the board. If it does not match yours, you must give it to the player with that Fancy Nancy tile. They can play it immediately.
If you get a WILD card, you can place it anywhere on your board (except a Fancy Nancy space). Wild cards cannot be lost or taken away from a player.
If you get a Lose a Turn tile, you lose your turn and put that tile into the discard pile.
If you get a Lose a Tile tile, you have to take one of your wedding picture tiles and give it to the player on your right. If they can't use it, it gets passed to the right again. If it makes it back to you, you must place it back into the draw pile. Discard this tile after use.
If you get a Take a Tile tile, you can take ANY picture tile from the player on your right and place it on the matching spot on your game board. Remember you can't do this if their panel is frozen. Discad this tile after use.
How to win:
Fill up your entire game board and you win!
Verdict:
Honestly, we've had this game since the kids were little and they still like to play it! It's very easygoing and doesn't take a lot of brain power, which is kind of nice! It's also a fairly short game.
Great for Learning:
Matching, reading (they'll see those same tiles with words over and over and learn by sight!)
