I miss the days when I used to blog regularly. My memory isn't that great, so when I can look back at stories, pictures, and videos on my blog, it really helps me remember what I was feeling during certain phases of my life. I think this is a great time to try to blog again, because I want to remember this phase. I want to remember that I can do hard things!
About nine months ago I took a teaching gig, teaching English to kids in China. I was excited about it, even though it meant waking up to teach at 6:40 a.m. (Mornings have NEVER been a friend of mine!) When the time changed back in the fall, I remember telling Stephen I couldn't possibly get up to teach the new 5:30 a.m. classes! But I was determined, and once I started, it actually wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It's funny now, looking back on that, because...
Now we are in the middle of a health crisis in China. The Coronavirus has struck tens of thousands of people. Families are quarantined in their homes. Schools are not in session. Today we saw that over 1000 people have died from the virus. It's a very serious situation. Due to the children not being allowed to go to school, our company added on extra classes for these kids. And because I am very highly motivated by money and helping out in their time of need, I am GOING FOR IT! Now that I look back and think about how hard it was to get used to teaching at 6:40 a.m., I laugh to myself! I thought I would share here what a typical day looks like for me in this season.
I start teaching at 6:50 p.m. when I can. Wednesday nights and Sunday nights I don't do this because of church commitments. I usually stop teaching around 8:00pm so I can fix dinner as everyone is getting home from afternoon activities. I try not to teach again until 8:50 or 9:30 p.m. so I can at least hang out with everyone a little bit (particularly Stephen since I've been with the kids all day anyway!) And sometimes I can't start until these later times anyway, because I'm responsible for getting a kid to or from their activity.
I have a break at 11:30 p.m. No classes are scheduled from this time until 12:30 a.m. so this is when I take a shower, brush teeth, etc. Basically I do my entire routine to get ready for bed so I'm ready to sleep when I'm done teaching. I usually finish this by midnight so I have time to sit down and read, or just watch some short videos or something to relax. Nothing too stimulating for my brain during this time period - I just want to relax!
At 12:30 a.m. classes start back up. I teach until 3:40 a.m. At this time there are no other classes scheduled until 4:50 a.m., so I try to sleep. I usually get in 45 minutes or so before my alarm goes off. I'm pretty hyped up after doing so many classes in a row, so it can be hard to wind down! Once I start teaching at 4:50 a.m. I'm not done until 8:00 a.m. At this time I'm completely done until the evening, so I can SLEEP!
Most days I am able to sleep until 9:30 a.m. We do have a soup kitchen we work at, we have play dates that are scheduled, geography classes at the library, co-op, etc. If I can sleep until 9:30 I can make it through our scheduled activities without any issues. After lunch is done the kids know I may play a handful of games with them or read a book with them, but then I'm going to have to take a nap. I usually try to sleep from about 1:30 to 3:30. If at all possible, I prefer to take a nap later in the day. For example, tonight I was able to nap from 5:30pm to 7:00pm and that should serve me well in these midnight hours!
I've definitely gotten in a routine. This routine isn't forever. The kids are supposed to be quarantined for about another 2-3 weeks and then life will return to normal. So I'm embracing this right now. What exactly does that mean? I'm not helping my kids with schoolwork as much. They are on their own - they know I will check their work and they save things for me if they have questions, but I am not sitting down to do it all with them right now. It means I have to say no to some stuff. We're spending more time at home in February so I can do this schedule and get some sleep so I'm safe while driving the kids around.
Now, the job is flexible. So I can cancel classes in order to cook dinner, go to a hockey game with friends, or meet up with friends who are in town from Florida. I love that flexibility. I also like that I can work 35-40 hours a week if I want to and not feel guilty about it. I'm still getting in plenty of quality time with my kiddos, and they're also learning those valuable skills called "independence" and "entertain yourselves QUIETLY FOR PETE'S SAKE"!
I'm wearing other hats and this doesn't get in the way at all. I don't schedule 12:30 - 3:30am classes on Wednesdays, only the 4:50-8:00 am classes. I want to be fresh for teaching preschoolers at co-op. I am able to work on that lesson in between classes. I can work on my Sunday school lesson, AWANA lesson, and Children in Action lesson for church in between classes. I can work on Rodan + Fields and place orders. I can do laundry and dishes and organize parts of the house that won't wake anyone up.
I've always kind of been a night owl, so it doesn't surprise me that I've acclimated to this schedule fairly quickly. I do know that it's also because my family is INCREDIBLY supportive. My kids are old enough to take care of themselves and I don't have to worry about what they are doing while I'm sleeping.
What was really tough was when Brianna got sick not once, but twice, while Stephen was TDY and I was working these hours. Fortunately, I was able to cancel classes to take care of her, but I was a major walking zombie the first 12 hours she was sick because I hadn't slept at all and then I was up with her. But hey, that's part of life.
I feel really blessed to have a part-time job like this. The kids I teach are phenomenal and they are so funny. They are smart and want to learn. The pay is great and the hours work with my schedule. Sometimes Brianna comes into my office and lays on the floor, curled up with her pillow and blanket, and listens in on my classes, and then afterwards we laugh about the kid named "Dudu" or how Billy demanded that I call him "Spiderman" or we "ooh" and "ahh" over the art the kids show me.
When I first started working nights it was really hard on Bri. She is a big snuggler and she didn't appreciate the fact that I would be working during her prime time for snuggling! I promised her this is just a season, and I have found ways to get in that snuggle time with her in between classes, or during the day, or if a class of mine gets canceled at the last minute. I've told her and Hunter this, and I hope they realize it - I do this for them. I want them to see that I work hard. I want them to see that you can do all the things that you are passionate about. God will work those things out for you. God gives you these awesome desires in your heart and then He brings them to fruition in ways you never would have imagined.
So while you may notice my dark circles more in February, or I may repeat things in conversations we have, it's all worth it to me. I feel so happy and so blessed to do what I do, and not give up homeschooling, or church activities, or miss out on things with my family. Life is pretty darn good right now.

10 Little Christians
Read this in the book I just finished, "Living Free in Christ" by Neil Anderson and I really liked it. Wanted to share it here.
10 Little Christians
10 little Christians came to church all the time; one fell out with the preacher, then there were nine.
9 little Christians stayed up late; one overslept on Sunday; then there were eight.
8 little Christians on their way to heaven; one took the low road; then there were seven.
7 little Christians, chirping like chicks; one didn't like the singing, then there were six.
6 little Christians seemed very much alive; one took a vacation, then there were five.
5 little Christians pulling for heaven's shore; one stopped to rest awhile, then there were four.
4 little Christians each busy as a bee; one got his feelings hurt, then there were three.
3 little Christians couldn't decide what to do; one couldn't have his way, then there were two.
2 little Christians each won one more; now don't you see, two and two make four.
4 little Christians worked early and late, each brought one, now there were eight.
8 little Christians, if they double as before... in just seven Sundays we'd have one thousand twenty-four.
In this little jingle there is a lesson true - you belong either to the building or to the wrecking crew!

Lots of Miscellaneous
I never blogged about getting my hair chopped off. It's not really a fascinating topic, but I have these pictures on my camera so I figured I may as well post them. I've been wanting to get my hair cut for forever - I hadn't had it cut since I found out I was pregnant with Brianna... August 2008 people!! It just seemed like if I had someone that could babysit Brianna I shouldn't waste the time getting my hair cut, I should be working or getting things done around the house. And there just never seemed to be a good time to take her with me. Hence, my hair was very long and stringy, and always in my way.
Finally, Jennifer came to my rescue. She told me about this great stylist, Jada, who was working from home because she was so close to having her baby. She said that it worked out great because Claire could just play around Jada's house while Jenn was getting her hair cut. So we worked out a time that we could both get our hair cut at the same time, plus the babies were entertained, plus we could go to Chick Fil-A afterward. So, win-win-win situation!!

Brianna is so happy to be in that picture with me. Actually I was going to post this one but I look like a goofball:

Well now I've posted it so it doesn't matter anyway. That was the day we were getting ready to go to the lake with Jenn & Claire, Nana, and Grace, Elizabeth and Amelia. That was a great day!
For the Fourth of July, we had family in town. This is Brianna gnawing on Oma's leg. It tickled Oma which made Brianna laugh very hard!!

We played a game called Apples to Apples (we are always playing some new board game around here!!) and Bri didn't want to be left out. Her card-loving days started at Grandpa and Grandma's house and now she loves to play with cards wherever she goes!

After a rousing card game, Brianna's uncle Josh thought it would be a good idea to sit her on the coffee table to read a good book. I thought it would be a good idea to take a picture before removing her.

Every year we go to Stephen's grandma's for Fourth of July fireworks. I actually dressed Bri for the holiday since I saw this dress in her closet and realized she'd never worn it and probably will never wear it again... These are her favorite magnets at Grandma Betty's house!! I believe Kathy got them for her.

And at the end of a long day, sometimes you just want to sit down and read a good book...

And then when Daddy gets home, you just want to play with him... even if he doesn't play back!

And last but not least, here is our yummy produce from this week! I exchanged the lettuce for more tomatoes because we still have lettuce from our last box.

Squash, green pepper, 3 lbs of potatoes, tomatoes, peaches, okra, blueberries, and corn. Yummy!!

Correct speling necessary.
I came across a posting while browsing Craigslist. The ad is for someone to do a voiceover for a company. The ad states they want:
"Someone professional.
Crisp clear voice.
Bi-lingual a SUPER PLUS!
Correct grammer is a must."
Good thing correct spelling isn't necessary.

To the consumer
Dear lady in front of me at Food Lion:
I just wanted to write and tell you how much I appreciated our conversation last Saturday. I have to admit I was a little bit confused when you didn't leave right after your transaction was done, and instead watched all of my items being scanned. Then, I wondered why you were so concerned with asking the cashier if I had bought the eggs that were on sale...
"They were only $0.89!!!" you stage-whispered to me frantically.
I shook my head. No, I'm an idiot. I didn't see the eggs that were on sale. Instead, I bought the ones that were $1.39. Noooooooooooooooo!
When I assured you that it was okay, I really wasn't excited that you told the cashier that I "must have plenty of money". I was a little peeved that you had let it slip that I am astoundingly rich, and I hope no one else in the store overheard, or they might have been upset that every other item in my cart was store brand. I especially appreciated it when you told me that "one day I would learn to count my pennies".
Now that I know how rich I am, I can quit doing Rite Aid rebates and shopping with triple coupons. I can't tell you how valuable this information is to me, and my husband will be quite happy to realize we can both retire at a young age and stay home with our children.
Sincerely,
The Girl Who Somehow Nodded Graciously and Walked Out of the Store Without Saying a Word

What was I up to?
I just wrote this exact same post. So. I am like the film makers who just do remakes and sequels. I am dull!! I can't believe it.
I am hoping to post some pictures later and give you some real reading.

Where is that?
Stephen just dropped by to see me at work. I, being the positive thinker I am, assumed he had the rest of the afternoon off! Cool, huh?? Not.
He is being shipped off like an object to Nova Scotia for the night. That's right, Nova Scotia. Could they BE any more random? He has to do some repairs up there and there's only two electricians in the shop that are qualified to go, so it's his turn. I have to admit, I'm a little jealous. I mean, I've been to Canada, but never Nova Scotia. But he's never even been further north than Ohio, so this should be a real treat for him! Right now it is 8 degrees there, and tomorrow's high is 4, so he will probably never want to go back to Canada with me.
I hate sleeping alone, so I may sleep on the couch tonight - it's more comfortable for my bulging belly right now anyway. I know there are people who go much, MUCH longer than one night without seeing their spouse, but it gets me everytime!
Maybe I'll actually get some of my homework done...
*Edit - Stephen just called and his services are no longer necessary. The trip has been postponed indefinitely. Yippee! I get a Christmas tree tonight after all!*

Oops
I just realized I haven't updated in over a week. I doubt many people have noticed, but for others who aimlessly surf the web and need something to read, I apologize. The only things I have to blog about have pictures to go with them and I haven't uploaded those pics yet, so I can't blog about it yet.

I hate letting my gas light come on. When it comes on, my whole body tenses and I get butterflies in my stomach. I know I have around 40 miles before my car stalls in the middle of the road, but I always feel like it's going to stop RIGHT. NOW. On the other hand, I have been in the car with Jenn when we have gotten in the car, and the light was already on, and we went to lunch and came back without her even flinching or glancing down at the light. Maybe she's just less paranoid than I am. Anyway, one day a couple of weeks ago, my gas light came on, so of course I got gas. Then I decided to flip my trip switch so I could see how many miles I was getting with a tank of gas. It just so happened that the next time I filled up the gas light was on yet again, so this may be a pretty accurate reading. Guess how many miles I went from gas light to gas light??? ......... 508 miles! Sweeeet! My car only has an 11 gallon tank so that is really awesome (about 46 miles to the gallon for those of you not near a calculator).

There is this guy at the post office who, within the past couple of weeks, has crossed the line of polite chatting to creepy dude. He is the janitor, so he is always there when I am there, and I guess that is what I get for smiling at everyone I come across. Now, I have never really needed a way to get someone to stop checking me out. I was always so focused on getting someone to notice me, I never thought about getting someone to turn away their attention! But I found the ultimate checker-outer killer!! Getting pregnant!!
I guess a couple of weeks ago I still didn't really look pregnant, and even two days ago when he saw me. So I took matters into my own hands. Yesterday I was wearing a shirt that really flared out, so when I saw him in the hall of the post office, I immediately pooched my stomach out (not as hard to do as a week ago), and started the preggo waddle. I think we all know what this waddle is, and it's amazing how you do it without even thinking about it, even when you don't need to do it. So he gave me the same cheesy smile he always gives me, but this time when he checked me out, he did a double take at my stomach. The sappy grin fell off his face, and he said, "So... how far along are you?" I said, "4 1/2 months", smiling sweetly. He said, "Well.. congratulations." and immediately walked off to another part of the post office. Score one for me! I got rid of creepy guy without being rude!

Not too long until Stephen and I leave for our VERY PRIVATE AND ALONE vacation. I can't remember the last time we were on vacation and we could do whatever we wanted to do, whenever we wanted to do it, eat where we want to, go to bed when we want to, stay in PJs all day if we want to, do nothing if we want to, and be mushy and romantic whenever we want to. I am very very excited!! So you'll forgive me if I just happen to see you in Virginia and I act like I have no clue who you are. Because this vacation is not involving anyone except for my little bubble!!! Okay. Enough said.
I just re-read that paragraph above and it sounds really snotty and selfish!! But I think it was my wise sister who once said you should never feel selfish when it comes to spending time alone with you and your spouse. That girl is wise beyond her years.

Segue?
After using the word "segue" in my last post, it reminded me of a funny story. The other night, me and Stephen and Taylor were driving around and they started talking about "segue" this and that. I was so confused, and with these two guys I was SURE they had their words mixed up. I was very high and mighty and kept saying, "Are you sure you guys know what a segue is?" I kept spelling it for them, which of course made no difference whatsoever.
Finally, last night, Stephen and I were searching for something online, and he points and yells, "THAT'S a Segway!" Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Now you know.
Random Thoughts
I am really, really thankful for garages. Thinking back, I have never had my car in a garage (certainly not one with a door) until we moved into this house in June of 2007. Now, I really take it for granted! I guess this morning was the first time I really noticed it. I walked out of our house and into my car wearing a thin, long-sleeve shirt, pants, and sandals. My car thermometer said 56 degrees. Then I backed out, and started going down the road. I watched the thermometer drop...

Eek! 32!! That's freezing! (Literally.) Anyway, it wasn't so bad stepping out when I got to work, because I had been toasty in my car.
------------------------------Segue----------------------------------------
A couple of weeks ago, when Stephen's family was in town, we turned on the gas logs for the first time so they wouldn't freeze to death. Unfortunately, the day after they left, it still smelled like gas, so we just turned them back off. Wednesday, I took the morning off work to meet the gas people out at the house for them to check and see what was going on. The appointment was for 8:30. At 8:45 I called Stephen to let him know they weren't there yet (according to his instructions) and he called them. Well, it turns out that the girl who made the appointment didn't actually finish writing all the information down. So, on the appointment schedule, it was written, "First thing Wednesday morning" and nothing else. By the time this was all figured out, it was 9:30, and Stephen was NOT happy that I had to take off work for no good reason. So he told me he was making a new appointment and making sure to ask for some kind of compensation. (He also abides by "It never hurts to ask".) He called me this morning - they are coming this afternoon - and they called him to let him know that any time spent out at our house today will be free (it's usually $78 per hour and extra per 15 minutes after that). So, yay!
-----------------------------------Transition-----------------------
And another thing about appointments! I have a doctor's appointment (that is the fifth time I've written "apopintment" and had to revise it) on Monday at 8:20. Ten days ago I called to see if there were any later times I could come. No.... that is the only available time right now.
So imagine my surprise when I get a phone call this morning telling me that my doctor wasn't supposed to be schedule for Monday morning appointments, and can I change my time or day? Well that would be fine except I've already scheduled off work for that appointment, and scheduled other things on other days that I can't change. Finally she was able to change it to just 45 minutes later (??). Why are appointments so difficult?

Date Night
Friday, Stephen stopped by work because we're looking at area rugs for the living room. As he left, he told me to start thinking about where I wanted to eat dinner because he was taking me out! Now, maybe that doesn't sound that thrilling to you, but we only eat out about once every 6 weeks, and that includes ordering pizza!! So I thought of all the reasons he might want to take me out - to propose, to tell me he's pregnant, to tell me he won the lottery... but none of those sounded very reasonable. Turns out he just thought I deserved a night out!! I picked Tripps because we used to go there when we were dating, and hadn't been there for almost three years. But I have great memories of the food there!
Our waiter started off by showing us "this incredible wine" that would go nicely with the $35 special. Of course. Anyway, Stephen proudly pointed out that I am not allowed to drink because I am pregnant. The waiter started laughing and said, "Then I'm cutting you off!" He left to get our drink orders, and when he returned he said to congratulate us we could pick anything off the dessert menu for free!!!
Our meal was fantastic, and our waiter, Sol, was so awesome. He was funny, and extremely attentive. In the end, I only ate half my meal so that I could save room for dessert. I ended up ordering a slice of strawberry cheesecake. That slice was as big as any whole cheesecake I've ever seen!! I told Stephen I wished I had my camera because no one would believe how big it was. And I definitely ate that whole thing by myself! It was absolutely delicious.
It was so nice to have a night out to ourselves, and everything was just so perfect - from the food to the service to the great conversation!
Saturday I worked at FTF, and trained a girl from 7am-5pm. I was really not happy about that at first because I'm not good at small talk, and I knew I would want a nap that afternoon and not be able to take one! But she turned out to be a really incredible lady. I bet we talked for 8 of those 10 hours about just everything we could think of!! By the end of the day she swore we are soul sisters, and she kept saying she was gonna come over and pinch me to make sure she didn't feel it. She is a really cute minister's wife with 5 kids so we had a lot to talk about. Mainly yard sales, books, and church. That night we were going to watch UFC 90 with a few people. Steve and Kathy came over at 8:00. The fight didn't start until 10:00 so they all watched football while I did some homework. Miguel, who works with Stephen, ended up driving from Fayetteville to watch the fight too. Steve and Kathy left around 11:00 when Kathy got too tired to stay up any longer. The rest of us plowed through and made it through all the fights (which lasted until 1:00 am). I can't believe that I didn't pass out during any of the fights! I was so exhausted. Fortunately we can sleep in on Sundays and if we're lucky we get a nap Sunday afternoons as well, between church services. We were lucky yesterday and got one!
At church, Stephen does children's church. I don't, because, well, I'm just not that into kids in that age group. I'm sure that will change with time.. right? Anyway, the teen that was supposed to help him yesterday didn't come to church, so I had to step in and be his assistant. We started off by passing out snacks (nothing like giving kids Oreos, chocolate chip cookies and Hi-C before sending them screaming back to their parents). One of the kids asked if he could say the blessing, so of course we said sure! His prayer turned out to be absolutely the cutest, funniest thing. It was along these lines - "Lord... thank you for today. Thank you for us being here and I pray we'll have a good day and go home after church and have a good day and come back tonight and then go home and go to bed and sleep good and wake up the next morning and I pray that we'll go to school and be good and our parents will go to work and work hard and then we'll come home and go to bed and wake up the next morning and do the same thing all over again...(insert looong pause).... Amen." It was so funny! The whole thing took like 5 minutes so it was even funnier. Okay, so I guess kids are cute after all.

Not it!
I've officially been tagged... by Katie!
Here are the rules.....
1. Post the rules on your blog
2. Write 6 random things about yourself
3. Tag 6 people at the end of your post
4. If you are tagged, just do it, and pass the tag along!!
6 RANDOM things that you may or may not know about me.......
1. When it's rainy outside, I get very grumpy because I prefer being on the couch watching movies, eating junk food, and passing out intermittenly. That rarely happens.
2. I love to alphabetize things. When I have several books I want to read and I can't decide which one to read, I alphabetize them and read them alphabetically.
3. I am one of those people, that when the vacuum won't pick up an object, I pick it up and stare at it, then set it back down and try to vacuum it up again.
4. For over a year now, mom and I (and now retired dad) have eaten lunch together once a week, taking turns cooking soup. I have yet to make the same recipe twice.
5. I really want to run a marathon before I get too old. I may settle for a 5K.
6. I have determined that I was just born to be pale. And now I'm okay with that.
I'm supposed to tag 6 people, but I can't think of 6, so I'm just going to tag dad, Jenn, and Libba. No pressure guys!

Let's rock!
Last night was very busy. So busy that I slept all night long, without getting up one time. That's a major accomplishment.
Right after work, I went to Rock the Plaza, which was being hosted by our very own Kirby Real Estate Group!!! I got my very own Kirby Koozie! A good time was had by all. I saw a ton of the coolest people in the county - including my fam, Carrie K, Melissa B, and all the Kirbys. I did really well at not spending any money. I had to leave there pretty quickly because Harris Teeter was having triple coupons. And I think we all know that you have to go as early as possible on triple coupon days!! I ended up having to make two trips because of all my coupons. My first trip was the best - I spent $34 and saved $37 in coupons. I think that's the first time I've saved more than I spent. I was pretty proud of myself until I talked to mom, the reigning Coupon Queen, who spent a mere $18 and saved $43 in coupons. That is my goal in life! I'm going to start warming up now for the next triple coupon event.
Is anyone else freezing today? I am so fortunate that Renee and I work in the same office and have the same body temperature. We are so cold. The heater is running full-force and we've decided we want to install a fireplace back here. I told her when she starts having hot flashes I won't be able to work here anymore - they'll freeze me out!!
We are still watching America's Got Talent, and they are down to the top 5. I'm trying to post this video of my favorite of who is left. They are called Nuttin' But Stringz. They are two brothers from NY who play in subways and stuff. They write all their own music and are incredible violinists. I love how they blend violins and hip-hop. I hope the video works, and the sound, because if the sound doesn't work it's pointless!

Ignorant Quote of the Day
So, we're watching America's Got Talent, and David Hasselhoff is one of the judges. You can pretty much count on 90% of what he says to make you shake your head. Here is what he said last night to one of the contestants:
"That's as American as... as the Olympics!"
Me and Stephen looked at each other, and then just busted out laughing. I said, "Weren't the Olympics started in Greece?" Stephen said, "Uh yeah, if you're going to say something is American, at least make sure it is American!"
We started naming off things that people think are "American" but really aren't.
It's as American as french fries!
It's as American as pizza!
It's as American as falafel!
Okay, just kidding. But it was pretty funny.

Very miscellaneous
I am posting just to get back into it, because as Renee said this morning, I haven't blogged in "SIX DAYS!!" I didn't realize. It has just gone by so quickly! And I have so many pictures I want to post.
I wore a sweater, yes a sweater, to work today because I was pretty freezing yesterday. Now I am burning up with no release. I now have kicked off my socks and shoes, which I'm pretty sure is totally against our dress code, but I'm also not walking anywhere. Yesterday I took my extra pair of sandals out of my car and put them in my closet. Of course. A few minutes ago I had to go out to the dumpster so I took off my sweater and walked around in my tank top, even though we are in the middle of a tornado warning? watch? and the school across the street has their alarms drilling for what I can only imagine must be a tornado drill. It is a bit cloudy but otherwise beautiful blue skies.
Last night, we were watching Intervention, which is a show about addicts and their journey to rehab. Really, the success rate is very high. Anyway, the director of this one rehab was talking about this guy who came in as an alcoholic. She said, "He just came in and really wanted to change everything. And he did, with relish." Stephen looked at me and said, "That must have been messy!" Haha! That tickled me.
Well, that's about it. Soon, really, I want to post pictures of the church building progress (our steel is up) and our back to school party at church (hilarious!). I'll get on that.

Laid Off
I hate that I haven't been blogging. If I had anything, anything at all, to blog about, I would. But nothing has happened lately! I'm probably going to get fired from blogging. Fortunately for me, that's not the way it works!!
Tonight is Rock the Plaza in Southern Pines. At least that will be something new and exciting for me! I have been craving a hot dog from Dog Nation ever since I found out they are going to be there tonight. Pik N Pig is also going to be there but I despise their food. I was smart enough to get some cash out so no one has to bail me out like last time (thanks Kate or Jenn! Now I can't remember who had to bail me out...)
Tomorrow night we have our back to school party at church. Stephen and I are in charge of the games. Thank goodness, because Stephen's been dying to play this one game forever. It's called Drip, Drip, Pour. You play it just like Duck, Duck, Goose, but with a cup of water. I'm sure you see where this is going. So we'll finally get to play that. We've got some other fun games saved up as well.
I guess that's really it. I cannot concentrate because I am thinking about Rock the Plaza now. Will the candles be buy one get one free again? Will the sales be good? Will the line be long for Dog Nation? What kind of military discounts are going on? Oh, the possibilities...

Highs and Lows
Because it's been so long since I last did a real update, I am taking a shortcut and bringing back some old college memories by playing "High and Low". This game has recently been dug up by Jenn, who loves it and forces Matt to play against his will. Pretty much, you would play this game around the dinner table at the end of your day and tell the high point of your day and the low point of your day. I will not follow that pattern, but this is the easiest way for me to catch up on blogging.
High: Last Wednesday, we went bowling with about 30 other people from church. I bowled four games all over 110 and two games I bowled a 140. (We hadn't bowled in probably 6 months, so I thought that was pretty good!)
Low: I realized that bowling a 140 was on my next 101 in 1001 list (yes, I'm already creating that list!) so I had to change that number to something a little more out of reach.
High: Last Thursday, I finished my last paper for my last summer class!
Low: It made me realize that I only have a few days left to finish my final exam.
Low: On Saturday, one of the women, J.R. had to go to the hospital for stomach pains.
High: She was released three hours later after being given some pain medication.
Low: Two hours after that I had to call 911 due to the fact that she was having an allergic reaction to said pain medication.
High: By 10pm that night, she was home in bed feeling better.
High: After work on Saturday, I went straight to Steve's to watch UFC 87. Several of our friends were able to meet us there, so we pigged out on junk food and watched 3 hours of fighting. Good times! And no low!
High: Monday night was Ladies Night Out at Outback with some of the girls from church. The food was delicious, everyone gawked over the size of my burger, and the dessert that we surprised one lady with (for her anniversary that week) was brought out with 16 spoons so we could all have a taste. We ended up staying for 3 1/2 hours we had so much fun.
Low: Being exhausted when I got home and sat down.
Low: Finding out Tuesday night that my friend Sherri's husband is being transferred to Illinois.
High: Knowing that the military changes their plans so much, there's a shot it will fall through.
I can't wait for this weekend! That sounds bad because actually, Stephen will be gone this weekend to Georgia. I will be a bachelorette! That wasn't an excited exclamation point, I promise. But I do have some great plans. Friday night, Jenn is coming over. I think we may use some of my Buy One, Get One Free pizza coupons at Papa Johns. And I am going to woo her with cheesecake. Then I'm sure we will get into some hair salon stuff and maybe watch a 30 Days episode or something.
Saturday I have to work, but after work I plan on coming home, changing immediately into pajamas, and watching at least one movie on the DVR. Maybe two if I'm not thoroughly exhausted!!!

Add on...
After I wrote yesterday's post on the women in my life, I thought of a handful of other women that have really influenced me that I did not include on this post. Please note that I did not mean to leave out anyone. I have been so fortunate to be surrounded by so many awesome women throughout my life, and I'll never forget what they've done for me, even if I do forget to blog about them!!

Hello stranger.
I had planned to blog today about our ground-breaking ceremony at church yesterday. We pulled up to church yesterday morning and there were bulldozers and mounds of dirt everywhere. Excitement!!! I took some pictures last night and really thought I'd upload them... didn't happen.
So instead, I'll write about something I'm really excited about. Movie night with Jenn and Lauren G.! We are watching one of my favorite movies, Closer. The first time I watched it, I watched it twice in a row, got on Amazon and bought it, bought Damien Rice's CD which features one song on the movie, called a couple of my friends, and hosted the movie at my apartment. Two more times. I don't know why this movie had such a huge effect on me! The only other movie that is on the same level of "affected-ness" is Love Actually. Best movie ever.
I was going to put some fun quotes from the movie on here, but to be honest, they either don't make sense because you would need to see the movie, or I'd have to censor them. So, I won't.
Maybe tomorrow sometime I'll blog about the weekend.
